About Us

In 2013 Thanetcraft achieved its 64th year of building aluminium boats. When we first started after the last war, aluminium alloy was virtually unknown as a boat building material. So from relatively humble beginnings with children's Paddle boats we progressed through to larger craft such as Row-Punts & Row-Boats, Fishing-Punts & WorkBoats, Catamarans and Floating Platforms, for diverse markets within local authorities, public utilities such as the water industry through to the countryside with its estates. Thanetcraft also built assault craft which were employed by our forces in the Malaysian campaign.

Thanet Craft was acquired by  John Armstrong in the *******.  John has been the Director and principal designer for the company for over ** years.  Coming from an engineering background and with a keen love and knowledge of water craft -  John has introduced many innovative and successful designs over the years. 

Production of John's Designs is handled by the specialist Aluminium Fabricator Martin Hall from his company in Cwmbran - M Hall Associates.  As of 2013 Martin will continue to provide the excellent service and quality of products as the new owner of Thanetcraft - with John Armstrong staying on as design and fabrication consultant.
